We are back from Isabela. There was a very good turnout for the funeral.
The protesters are gone, a few remain to clean up the mess.
The news we are hearing about the strike outcome makes me think a lot more than one man died in Galapagos this
week.

Chantal has a copy of a "declaration of Intent" that she received from the park. She is typing it up
and will send it to the list. I have no details to pass along.
[NOTE: The funeral procession of long-time Station staff member,
Arnaldo Tupiza, passed by the Park office still occupied by Strikers. Hundreds of Isabela islanders, bare-headed
in respect for don Tupiza, followed the casket carried by his family and friends. By contrast, Strikers lounging
in doorways pulled their caps down over their frowns. Mostly drawn by the sea cucumber boom to Isabela island,
these recent immigrants from continental Ecuador could not fathom the loss of this very special man]
